About Me

My photo
Thank you for visting my blog. When I started this blog, it was just the vehicle for which I had hoped to share photos of our life in Chicagoland with our loved ones, but it has turned into so much more for me. Life is ever evolving in our household and time no longer stands still. Every moment is precious and worthy of being captured and treasured. In addition, through my love of the camera, I have had the opportunity to meet and also capture moments in others' lives. It is my hope, with this blog, that when my memory fails me, the words and photos on this blog will remind of where we were. History...Through My Glass...

back on the bandwagon

Last Saturday, I joined a running club. They help us train for a 5K in April. Yes, I am starting off small as it has been well over a year since I've done any sort of running. I don't know if it's age or just being overweight now, but I am really feeling it in my body. I like to think it's the weight. I just need to work on my food and nutritional intake now.

Things have been so wonderful lately. Even amongst all of the repairs we've had to make to our cars and home and the hassle of it. I have been working 10 hour days, in order to get Thursdays off so that I can not feel guilty about taking time out for Roan's speech therapy in the mornings and then I can do housework and errands so that we can have weekends more free to do family things together.

I was already doing long hours at work so when the alternative schedules were offered. I took it up. Choua has been great with Roan in the evenings and although we spend less time in the evenings together, Roan and I get to spend more quality time together and we always have our slightly leisurely mornings together. In fact, Roan is now eating more of our food. Choua has been working with him to eat chicken and rice soup and he's starting to eat more of it.

However, through his therapy, I am learning that he is a stimulation seeker. He needs to exhaust some of his energy before he can focus well on a topic. I think we were forcing him before and now we are working with him.

I've also had to ask for help with potty training this kid. He shows no interest. He cries and says "Ewww,"when we try to put him up on the toilet, even with the kiddie seat on it! I guess we were too effective in trying to get him not to touch it. He is pretty excited about his Spiderman underwear though...even though he wears it over his diaper. **PHOTO DELETED**

We also finally bought a sofa! We were looking around, but didn't want to spend too much on a sofa, knowing that Roan loves to jump on it and will probably get it dirty so we decided to go to the Crate and Barrel Outlet and we found this very plain sofa. It was under $400 so we snatched it up. It's more modern than we wanted, but it does the trick and adds color to our living room. Later, I found out that it's part of CB's Organic line that just came out. What a nice bonus?

Hey - that's great about the running club. Great couch, too! Good luck on the potty training - we are having a slow-go of it around here, too.

Roan looks like he's thinning out a lot. I hear you on the whole health initiative. Can't wait till this baby pops out so I can start exercising again. As for potty training, he'll get there when he gets there. It took max until he was 3 1/2 and then he just got it.

Hi, I linked you from Minna's page. I love your photos, they're so bright and cheerful. You're lucky you live close to a c&b outlet. Great steal on the sofa ! :)
