presidential
I finally registered to vote last week. Roan and I have been going to the library a lot lately. I rediscovered it recently. I am horrible at getting materials back on time though.
Anyways, I've been trying to watch the debates. It's kind of late news now, but I have a hard time taking the candidates seriously. I can't tell if they are giving facts or just throwing in numbers and trying to make the other candidate look bad. I am so lost. I'm not undecided, just conflicted about what I am hearing. Where does an ignorant citizen get more educated with facts and insights?

Go to factcheck.org. From there you can link to their website for political fact check or copy this into your browser => http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/
It is a non partisan website that will list all claims being made by both candidates. It will let you know if the claim is true, partially true or false. I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) just the other morning and they had Fact Check people on their program. They confirmed that though both campaigns have put out false statements, McCain's campaign had much more false and half true statements than Obama.
This month only 34% of Obama's ads were considered negative and 100% of McCain's ads were negative. This was reported by the Wisconsin Advertising Project, the source used for this info. for all major news stations. I'm not making this up. Just Google it and you'll see it referenced in all of the major publications and news stations.
All I know is I can't vote for a ticket like McCain/Palin. They are trying to invoke fear and divide. Their surrogates are playing into people’s fear of radical Muslims by using Obama’s middle name which they didn’t start doing until this week. They are trying to link him to Bill Ayers, leader of a domestic resistance group the 1960's that committed violent acts to protest the Vietnam war when Obama was only 8. People at ALL of their rallies are angry, shouting things like, "Kill Him!", "Terrorist" and derogatory words to minority news crews traveling with McCain/Palin. They are not talking about the real issues like the economy because they know they will lose (which was a direct quote from a McCain advisor). Sound unbelievable, check it out on factcheck. Pull up CNN or any news source and read the stories. It's all there. I can’t wait until the probe into Palin’s misuse of power in Alaska comes out today. In anticipation that it is going to be bad, the McCain/Palin camp has already put out their own statement on the issue as of last night. Pathetic.
